The Absolute Best

Dennehof is the absolute best place to stay when in Prince Albert.

Inga and Albert are wonderful and welcoming hosts. The old house, the gardens and all the rooms are beautiful and full of character. Breakfast in the conservatory is a memorable event all on its own; delicious food and a setting that can’t be beat.

For the birders, there are some great birds visiting both the garden and the small wetland next to the conservatory. Dennehof is also ideally located for a trip up the Swartberg Pass to see some of the unique birds and animals that occur there.

Understated Luxury in the Karoo

What an experience. Dennehof came highly recommended by friends of ours and we thought it would be a great stopover in between Cape Town and PE. That trip was cancelled due to covid so we ended up booking a big friend weekend at Dennehof.
Inga was incredible! She made lots of suggestions for the area and helped me map out the perfect itinerary. She made all of the bookings for us. What a trip! The place itself is so so beautiful and comfortable. We stayed in the windmill room. It’s so spacious. The most comfortable bed, luxury linen, Mungo towels, a fridge in the room, a coffee station, luxury gowns and so forth.
Everything is decorated with the utmost taste while staying true to the Karoo in an understated way. Breakfast is either served outside or in the most special conservatory. It was beyond delicious! The gardens really stood out to me and there is a braai area, a beautiful pool and even a sauna.
We adored easy lunches from the Lazy Lizzard, loved the ghost walk, had the most delicious food at African Relish (Chef’s Cafe) and loved being able to walk around in the town. The museum was super interesting and the gallery lovely.
It’s the quaintest, friendliest little town and I am so grateful for the effort so many have gone to to keep the architecture the same and rather restore than rebuild.
We have already booked our next stay later this month and looking forward to it being just the two of us there. We’ll definitely try the fig farm this time, drive the Swartberg pass and possibly enjoy a hike somewhere.
The family room was amazing – it had a lounge and even a kitchen. I would highly recommend the family room or the windmill room. They are all lovely, but those are slightly bigger.
Thank you for the most incredible stay! We truly loved it.

Karoo Stopover

Located on a farm at the foot of a mountain and short walk from the town center, Dennehof is everything it says it is, and more – a space of timeless grace and calming enchantment. It is a slice of Karoo magic, an establishment that feels like a cross between a boutique hotel and elegant bed and breakfast.
We stopped over at Dennehof on a roadtrip around the Karoo and Ceres. This was my second stay at Dennehof. I had stayed a few weeks earlier and fell in love. I knew I would be back. A month later my partner and I set off on a roadtrip and Dennehof was firmly in the mix.
Inga and Albert are exceptional hosts; warm, bubbly and friendly – they go out of their way to make guests feel welcome.
In our case this included a wonderful home cooked meal in the old kitchen of the Cottage. And as for the breakfast in the Conservatory… I can’t wait to return.
