Die Hel

swartbergpass

Highly recommended is the Gamkaskloof ‘Die Hel’ (translated to The Hell) which takes you to visit a lost community and although it is only 50km away, this is a full day tour where you head down the valley from the top of Swartberg Pass in a 4×4 to the valley and enjoy a historical talk on this forgotten area, meet the people and then enjoy a local lunch before heading back in the afternoon.

A stay at Dennehof Guest House offers an alternative to Oudtshoorn and a real country feel. Great for couples and families. At least 2 nights are recommended to be able to really appreciate the charms of Prince Albert.

A must is the Swartberg Pass which is a daunting and beautiful pass that links up with Oudtshoorn and if the less faint hearted you can even hire a mountain bike to take on the pass!
